Training Programs & Groups
We welcome rowers of all levels and ambitions! BRRC has training groups that suit a wide variety of goals. We understand that not everyone is interested in racing - but some of you are all about the win. Although we practice and operate as one unified team, within that team you have options to find the version of rowing that makes you feel your best!
Training Options
We welcome rowers of all ages, abilities and motivations. Our team of nearly 100 people includes a varied, diverse roster! We offer options to accommodate all rowers, from beginners to advanced competitors - there is a place for everyone at BRRC!
Race Team
For those who thrive off the thrill of the race, our competitive team offers a healthy way to express your ambitions. Our competitive team is roughly 1/3 of our rowers. We compete at local and regional regattas, at both the recreational and the competitive level. This group can expect challenging practices geared toward race prep and competitive training.
Experienced Team
Our experienced team is filled with rowers of all ages who have been rowing for longer than 1 year. Experienced team members may opt to participate in regattas in (slightly) less competitive boats or recreational boats, and can expect practices to be a mix of higher intensity workouts and steady state rowing.
Novice Team
Welcome new rowers! Rowers who are brand new to the sport will join our novice team for their first year. The novice team has a slightly different practice schedule, and can expect practices to be heavily focused on technique, synchronization, timing, and drills. Novices will have several opportunities throughout the season to compete in regattas if they choose!
Coxswains
Our team cannot row without coxswains! While we often have rowers take turns learning this valuable role, we welcome dedicated coxies to join us! If you're a former coxie or rower who is no longer interested in rowing but would love to have a crew row you up and down the river, please contact us. Coxies are invaluable - we waive our fees for anyone interested in a coxie-only role on our team!
