Whether you’re a former competitive rower looking to reignite your competitive spirit or you’re brand new to the sport and looking for a way to stay active, BRRC is the place for you. Our team includes rowers from their early 20s into their 80s, covering a range of competitive and non-competitive options.

Indoor Season

Interested in giving rowing a try?

Rowing is a fantastic sport for people of all ages and abilities. At BRRC, brand new rowers are welcomed onto our Novice team. This group is made up of eager new rowers of all ages. The Novice team will have several opportunities to race over the course of our on the water season

Learn to Row

Attend a Learn to Row session hosted by BRRC. These sessions teach the basics of rowing in six classes over two weeks. Following your Learn to Row session, you’ll be welcome to join BRRC masters as a Novice team member!

What to wear:
Tighter fitting athletic clothing, sneakers, weather appropriate layers and sun protection

What to expect:
The first practice will be a land practice learning the rowing stroke on Concept2 rowergs, learning about the rowing equipment and how to prepare for going on the water. Following practices will be on the water, weather dependent, with BRRC Masters rowers assisting.

Attend a free Try-It day! These are held once or twice a summer, and offer a crash course in rowing. Following a Try-It day, you’ll be encouraged to attend a Learn to Row session for more instruction or join our team.

If you want to enter our on-the-water season at full speed, consider joining us in our indoor season! You’ll master the basic technique on the rowing machine, get to know our boathouse, meet your teammates, and be ready to take on the river come April!

Indoor Season Schedule:

November–March

Sundays 8-10 a.m.
Monday 6-7:30 p.m.
Thursday 7-8:30 p.m.

Experienced rowers are welcome to join us year-round. Whether you’re coming from another masters team or have previous competitive experience as a high school or college rower, you can fast-track your membership by contacting our head coach!

Drop-in Practice

Singles/Scullers

Indoor or on-the-water, a great first step is to come to a practice and see what we’re about! Meet the team, see the boathouse, and either jump on an erg with us or hop in a boat. Please contact us to schedule your drop-in practice, and tell us a little about your rowing experience!

Temporary/Short Term Membership

College students on summer break or other adults who are only available for a portion of our season are still welcome to row with us at a prorated cost. Please contact us to make arrangements for your unique circumstances.

Experienced scullers or small boat rowers are welcome to join our team! While we encourage the team aspects of 8s and sweep boats, BSRA offers boat storage for an additional rack fee. Scullers are welcome to race under the BRRC team name.
